Beyond Decluttering: Your Spring Guide on Nervous System Restoration

It's spring time. Again.

The ritual of decluttering is calling and we’ve all seen the checklists: scrubbing and scouring, rearranging closets and drawers, and finally binning away all the unwanted stuff.

Maybe you’re waking up tired despite getting eight hours of sleep. Perhaps your "to-do" list feels just like too much, or you find yourself snapping at loved ones over minor inconveniences. If you feel like a tightly coiled spring that won’t unwind, you don’t need a better vacuum—you need a nervous system reset.

Why This "Spring Agitation"?

It is in your head. Your brain is actually struggling to catch up with the season.

The Melatonin Lag

In winter, your brain produces more melatonin (the sleep hormone). When spring brings sudden bright light, your internal clock doesn't synchronize immediately. You end up feeling "foggy" because your body is trying to wake up while your chemistry is still in the sleepy mode.

The Stress Loop

While you declutter at home, you may also pick up a lot more than you realize. In spring, our social life becomes more active and our days gets busier. This sudden increase triggers a fight-or-flight response in your sympathetic nervous system. Your adrenaline spikes, your body tenses up, and your brain prioritizes survival over healing. When the stress persists, your constantly distressed nervous system gets overloaded, and your brain brings up your cortisol (stress hormone) level. You may experience anxiety, irritation or insomnia episodes. A series of less pleasant body reactions can also ensue, such as muscle or fascia tightness and fatigue.

So now we are here. This spring, Aha Halo is ready to help you retune your frequencies and rebalance your nervous system.

A Simple Guide to A Balanced Nervous System

7-Day Self-Recovery Plan (example)

Day 1-2: Reducing the Noise

To prepare yourself for the forthcoming restoration, some noise reduction is necessary. Environmentally, try to reduce audible noise by using sound-dampening materials like rugs or heavy curtains (or just a pair of earplugs), and electromagnetic noise by switching off your electronic devices for short periods. Mentally, try batching your notifications and practice monotasking (e.g. Pomodoro Technique).

Day 3-4: Grounding Yourself

Ground yourself mentally and physically via achievable everyday activities. A 10-minute meditation, a 15-minute hot bath, a 20-minute walk in the park, or a 30-minute light workout. While practicing, be aware of your surroundings as well as your inner feelings. These small tasks themselves are good for your general well-being, and achieving them can bring you a feeling of success and a sense of security.

Day 5-7: Rebuilding the Rhythm

With all the preparations ahead, your nervous system is much more relaxed and steady. It's now the best time to form a new, healthy rhythm. Integrate the activities that you feel most beneficial in your previous practice into your schedule and make them your new routine. Maybe a morning run, a sunlight bath during lunch breaks, or a late-night mindfulness session before sleep.

Recommended Aha Programs

In this restoration process, some Aha frequencies can help with the tuning process anytime, anywhere. Here is a list of recommended programs:
